The Glenrothes suite, with dual aspect views over the centre of Rothes, is an impressive room complete with Super Kingsize Hypnos bed, superfast broadband, elevated seating area and handmade Italian furniture.

Its namesake distillery was built in 1878 by James Stuart & Co. The first whisky ran off the stills on the 28 December 1879, the same day as the Tay Bridge disaster.

Fast forward to today, the distillery is famed for producing an exceptional single malt, which is also used for blending.

Trinkets donated by the Glenrothes distillery lend a unique ambience. These include a copper dog, dating from the early 20th Century, which was used by distillery workers – most likely surreptitiously – to pull samples of whisky from the casks.

“We booked the sumptuous 'Caperdonich' suite for a very special anniversary and we certainly weren't disappointed. Our evening meal with dear friends in 'Pagoda's' restaurant was delightful and the service throughout first-class, I can't recommend the Station hotel in my home town of Rothes enough! Great credit to owners, Richard and Heather Forsyth”

Dave

“Took friends for dinner and an overnight stay to celebrate a birthday. I had previously stopped for lunch in Toots last year and was impressed so thought we would treat our friends here. Perfect from start to finish. The rooms were amazing. Dinner and breakfast was faultless and the whisky/gin bar at the back is so impressive as was the service by all the staff we encountered. We will be back again.”
